Programming Launches in March; Sneak Peek of Network LIVE with Performance from John Mayer Trio Begins Airing in December
LOS ANGELES, December 15, 2005– Network LIVE, a joint venture between America Online, XM Satellite Radio and AEG, and DIRECTV, the nation’s leading digital television service, today announced a landmark agreement to provide DIRECTV customers with exclusive, entertainment programming, created and distributed by Network LIVE. As part of the agreement, Network LIVE will become the music and live entertainment programming partner for DIRECTV, and DIRECTV will serve as Network LIVE’s exclusive first-window television partner.

Eighteen months ago, these punk pioneers were one step from the nostalgia circuit, desperately trying to recapture the spark that made Dookie a multi-platinum mid-’90s phenomenon and ushered moshing into the pop mainstream. And then along came American Idiot, in which Billie Joe and company not only got political but plugged into the cross-generational zeitgeist in creating their own version of Tommy. Coming off a year and a half of nonstop touring, a bevy of Grammy and MTV awards, the NoCal band followed up two sold-out shows at the 20,000+ Home Depot to play a live webcast in front of an invited crowd for Kevin Wall’s Network LIVE initiative, a joint project with AEG, AOL Music and XM.

In the biggest launch party in history, Bon Jovi celebrated the U.S. debut of their brand new album “Have A Nice Day” with a concert to christen the Nokia Theatre. Showcasing Network LIVE’s multi-channel, horizontal marketing network, the concert was broadcast live on AOL Music’s Network LIVE Concerts channel, simulcast live on XM Satellite Radio, and shown live on 91 National CineMedia digital cinema screens in 65 markets nationwide to audiences totaling over 10,000.
