Cirque Du Soleil selected Control Room to serve as co-executive producer for a first-ever global project – A Poetic Social Mission – a 2-hour, 14-city, massive global event featuring well-known artists performing live and celebrity poem readings all in an effort to raise awareness for the global water crisis. Control Room collaborated on the creative execution of Guy Laliberté’s vision, partnered on television and online broadcast distribution, selected artists for performances, oversaw staging and event production, and brought well-known celebrities and culturally significant representatives to participate in the event.
More than 1,200 guests filled the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture to celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden and America’s green economy at the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball. The sold out event was Executive Produced by Control Room and featured musical performances by renowned artists will.i.am., Melissa Etheridge, Maroon 5, John Legend and Michael Franti.
Macy’s celebrated an epic milestone as the famous retailer marked its 150th birthday on October 28. A local retail store turned cultural icon, Macy’s commemorated the occasion with a line-up of remarkable events and charity and community-building efforts taking place this month, including the “Macy’s Passport Celebrity Catwalk Challenge” produced by Control Room for NBC primetime, USA, Bravo and Oxygen networks. Fashion also hit theaters with “Macy’s Passport: Fashion Cinema.” Macy’s Passport fashion show was transformed into a high definition cinematic event in 27 major cities across the country, through National CineMedia. Both the television special and the cinema show featured special musical entertainment, including performances by the Pussycat Dolls, Fall Out Boy and Ne-Yo, as well as fashion extravaganzas. Making Passport history, Macy’s continues their dedication on to the fight against HIV/AIDS and ongoing involvement in local communities.
A diverse line-up of artist performances from the Virgin Mobile Festival, included Jack Johnson, Nine Inch Nails, Lil Wayne and many more, was available for free to millions of fans worldwide via online broadcast at MSN.com. The three-part series created by Control Room captured the electricity and excitement of the two-day event which boasted more than 60,000 attendees and one of the world’s most eclectic line-ups.
On December 31st, Nokia, MSN, Control Room and local television broadcasters around the world rang in the New Year by connecting music lovers with some of today’s hottest international artists and popular local talent. Viewers saw hot performances by Rihanna, Ludacris and KT Tunstall as they took over a chilly Times Square, The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Sergio Mendes rocked Rio, Nelly Furtado shook up Mumbai, the Scissors Sisters and Sugababes were in Berlin, Atomic Kitten and Hacken Lee partied in Hong Kong and much more.
